our history
Wenzel Logistics GmbH is a medium-sized transport and logistics company operating successfully throughout Europe with around 130 employees and comprises four strategically perfect locations in Vienna, St. Michael (Upper Styria), Wels and at the Werndorf freight terminal. The range of services offered by Wenzel Logistics includes intermodal transports, road truck transports and warehouse logistics.
Our Werndorf branch is located in the Cargo Center Graz. Wenzel Logistics GmbH is one of the shareholders of the company. The center has its own highway and, of course, rail connection and is therefore the main point for our intermodal transports. At this location we operate over 9,000 m² of state-of-the-art (heatable, sprinkler systems, highest environmental standard) warehouse space, which also enables temperature-controlled warehouse management. In addition, we have handling facilities for containers and swap bodies here.
1998
The company “Wenzel Logistics GmbH” was founded in 1998 by Mr. Norbert Wenzel in Premstätten near Graz. In the first years, the strongly growing company was exclusively active in the areas of warehousing and conventional truck transport.
2000
In 2000, another branch was opened in St. Michael. Our branch in St. Michael is located at the highway junction St. Michael (A9/S6/S36). At this location we have 10,200 m² of warehouses, 1,250 m² of outdoor storage and 15,000 ² of open space.
2004
Since the beginning of 2004 Wenzel Logistics GmbH operates in cooperation with. W. Combi Cargo Transportlogistik GmbH & Co KG an intermodal rail shuttle system that connects Styria, Carinthia, Slovenia and Hungary with the economic area of the Ruhr region and the BENELUX countries.
2016
At the beginning of 2016, another destination was added to the Intermodal offering: Wenzel Logistics operates a new daily train connection to Frankfurt.
In 2016, yet another branch office was opened in Vienna. Since 2016, the Vienna-based department “Project & Special Transport” has been operating, which is responsible for project handling, construction site logistics and all related measures, nationally, internationally and also overseas.
In addition, we expanded our team with two more Vienna-based departments that primarily take care of conventional road transports & project business in Western and Eastern Europe.
Likewise, since 2016, we also offer sea freight in addition to our core business of road and intermodal transport.
2020
In 2020, the Wenzel Group of Companies jointly acquired Walser Eisenbahn GmbH, based in Vienna and Werndorf, and has since had its own operator for intermodal transports.
2022
Another major milestone occurred in 2022, when Wenzel Logistics acquired its first two company-owned Siemens Vectron locomotives. This occasion opened even more doors to offer more independent and environmentally friendly transport solutions.
Wenzel Logistics could open another branch in Wels in 2022 to expand the market in Upper Austria.

Wenzel logistics GmbH is committed to its environment to contribute to the fulfillment of the Kyoto Protocol. Our slogan “We reduce CO2! We travel by rail! We don’t talk about shifting from road to rail, we do it!” illustrates the lived corporate attitude towards nature and the environment.
By shifting from road to rail, approximately 15,000 truck trips are avoided. This environmentally friendly alternative will reduce CO2 emissions by around 6,000 tons per year. By relieving the burden on the roads, an improvement in the ecological footprint is to be achieved. The environmentally friendly project was supported by the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) of the European Commission.
